Notable Past Accomplishments

As an articling student, Michael was a key contributor to written arguments submitted in the Court of Appeal’s decision in Hunter v. King, 2022 ONCA 190 (CanLII), and the License Appeal Tribunal’s decision in
Chynoweth v BelairDirect, 2022 CanLII 38856 (ON LAT).

BIOGRAPHY

Michael’s practice focuses on insurance defence litigation. He has experience defending product liability, personal injury, and occupier’s liability actions. Michael has assisted in the defence of airports throughout the province as well as multiple restaurant chains with a national presence. Michael also maintains a growing subrogated claims practice with a focus on fire loss and flooding.

Prior to law school, Michael worked as an award-winning journalist. He pursued his passion for research and writing in law school where he became Senior Editor of the Osgoode Hall Law Journal.

His legal writing has appeared in Windsor Law’s Yearbook of Access to Justice (Litigating in the Time of Coronavirus: Mental Health Tribunals’ Response to COVID-19) as well as the Osgoode Hall Law Journal (The Class Actions Controversy: The Origins and Development of the Ontario Class Proceedings Act).
