BIOGRAPHY
Jacob is an articling student at Benson Percival Brown LLP, assisting lawyers across the firm’s insurance defence practice, including personal injury, professional liability, subrogation, and defending corporate clients in general liability and related civil litigation matters. Alongside legal research, drafting, and case preparation, he is gaining early exposure to courtroom appearances and examinations for discovery.
Jacob earned his Juris Doctor at Queen’s University Faculty of Law, where his academic focus was consistently on litigation. In his final year, he received the course prize in Medical Malpractice, reflecting a strong interest in professional liability and complex claims. Throughout law school, he served as a student caseworker at Queen’s Legal Aid Clinic, representing low-income clients in criminal matters in the Superior Court of Justice, Small Claims Court files, and administrative tribunals such as the Social Benefits Tribunal. He is expected to be called to the Bar of Ontario in 2027.
Jacob’s interest in advocacy took root during his undergraduate studies at Wilfrid Laurier University, where he completed an Honours thesis in cognitive neuroscience examining how nuances of language shape perceptions of credibility and persuasion in legal settings. He graduated with Distinction and on the Dean’s Honour Roll.
Outside of law, Jacob played on the Queen’s Law Hockey Team and participated in intramural rugby and water polo. He previously competed in rugby across Europe and remains active in competitive sports.
