Evan Kopiak (2016) obtained an Honours Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Queen’s University in 2011, and obtained his JD from Western University in 2015. Prior to commencing his studies at Western Law, Evan spent a year teaching English in South Korea.
During his time at law school, Evan competed in numerous internal and external oral advocacy competitions, and achieved second place in the cross-provincial Harold G. Fox Intellectual Property Moot in 2014. He was also a student caseworker at the Western Law Clinic and the Elgin-Oxford Legal Clinic in St. Thomas, Ontario. While working for the legal clinics, Evan represented clients involved in Landlord & Tenant disputes, Small Claims Court matters, Provincial Offences matters, ODSP applications and appeals, and Canada Pension Plan Disability applications and appeals. He also drafted Community Legal Education materials to assist self-represented individuals navigate the Canada Pension Plan applications and the subsequent appeals process through the Social Security Tribunal.
Evan articled for Benson Percival Brown in 2015/2016 and joined the firm as an associate upon his call to the bar. He works primarily in the areas of personal injury, subrogation and insurance defence litigation.
